Research Technologist
Swathi Talluri her Masters in Molecular & Cellular Biology and was a Research Technologist in the lab for an additional year. She was recruited to Pharma in 2025 as a research scientist.

Ines Godet- ChemBe PhD Graduate 2021. Postdoctoral fellow at the Gilkes Lab 2021-2022. She is currently a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Massague Laboratory at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

Alyssa Weinstein graduated in May 2023 with a Master’s in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department from the Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is currently pursuing her PhD at Washington University in St. Louis.

Eddie Campos was an NIH Post-Baccalaureate Research Fellow from 2021-2023. He is currently pursuing his MD/PhD at Washington University in St. Louis in the MSTP program.

Tommy Wang graduated in May 2022 with a Master’s in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department from the Bloomberg School of Public Health. He is currently pursuing his PhD at Ohio State University.

Fan Wu graduated in May 2021 with a Master’s in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. He is currently pursuing his PhD at Johns Hopkins in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in the Lab of Denis Wirtz.

Natalie Joe- CMM PhD Graduate May 2022. She is currently a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the National Cancer Institute Cancer Prevention Fellowship Program.

Michael Trautmann Rodriguez - Undergraduate Research Assistant. Michael was an undergraduate from Johns Hopkins University who obtained a B.S. in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering in 2021. He is currently a PhD student in Chemical Engineering at University of Delaware in the lab of Dr. Catherin Fromen.

Andrea Thurnheer - Undergraduate Research Assistant. Andrea was an undergraduate from Johns Hopkins University who obtained a B.S. in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering in 2021. She is currently an analyst in the Process Development Rotational Program at Genentech.

"Bryan" Byung Hyun Yi - Undergraduate Research Assistant. Bryan was an undergraduate from Johns Hopkins University who obtained a B.S. in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering in 2021. He is currently a Research Technician I at Seattle Children's Research Institute.

Josh DiGiacomo - PhD Student. Josh was a PhD student who joined our lab in 2016 through the Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering. Josh earned his PhD in 2021 with his thesis titled "The Impact of the Tumor Microenvironment on Breast Cancer Progression and Phenotype: Extracellular Matrix & Metastatic Niche". He is currently working as a Scientist III Cell Biology at Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Mahelet Mamo - Postbaccalaureate Research Assistant. Mahelet was a postbaccaleurate researcher who joined our lab through the Doctoral Diversity Program and completed the program in 2020. Mahelet studied the effects of hypoxia on various genes in breast cancer is attending medical school in Georgetown University.

Shyanne Salen - Shyanne was an graduate student from Johns Hopkins University who obtained a Master's degree in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering in 2020. Shyanne studied the oxygen gradients of 3D collagen and matrigel systems and how those gradients affect 3D cancer systems. She is currently Scientist II at Thermo Fisher.

Sesha Charan Pasupuleti - Charan was an graduate student from Johns Hopkins University who obtained a Master's degree in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering in 2021. Charan is currently Operations, Quality & Safety Manager at Kamtek.

Rachel Park - Undergraduate Research Assistant. Rachel was an undegraduate from Johns Hopkins University who obtained a B.S. in Molecular & Cellular Biology in 2019. Rachel worked in the lab for 3.5 years, and plans to attend medical school in the future.

Chioma Ekwunazu - Summer Undergraduate Researcher. Chioma was an undergraduate from University of Maryland College Park who spent 10 weeks with us in Summer 2019 through the Short-Term Research Experience for Underrepresented Persons (STEP-UP) Program! She spent her summer optimizing a genotyping and qPCR protocol to help with our transgenic mouse hypoxia fate-marking model. She is currently an MD Candidate at Howard University College of Medicine

Abigail Mesfin - Summer Undergraduate Researcher. Abby was an undergraduate from Purdue University who spent 10 weeks with us in Summer 2018 for the Johns Hopkins CARES program. Abby helped develop a PCR-based method to quantify color-changing cell lines during her time here.

Rachel I Chae Ye - Lab Technician. Rachel was a lab technician from Johns Hopkins University who obtained her B.S. in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering in 2016. She spent two years as research technician in the lab working on various projects in the lab including transgenic mice care and gathering an RNA library of breast cancer cell lines under hypoxia. She is currently a PhD student in the BME department at .

Yu Jung Shin - Lab Technician. Yu Jung was a lab technician from Johns Hopkins University who obtained her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering in 2017. She spent a year with us assisting in the processing, imaging, and evaluation of a transgenic mice model for hypoxia marking. She is currently a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at University of Washington.

Soumitra Bhoyar - Graduate Student. Soumitra was a graduate student from Johns Hopkins University who obtained his Master's degree in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering in 2018. During his time in the lab, Soumitra created a MATLAB code to analyze metastatic colonies in vitro and in vivo. He graduated with a PhD student in Chemical Engineering at University of Delaware in 2024.

Grace Kim - Undergraduate Research Assistant. Grace was an undergraduate from Johns Hopkins University who obtained a B.S. in Molecular & Cellular Biology in 2018. Grace worked in the lab for 3 years, and plans to attend medical school in the near future.

Jisu Shin - Undergraduate Research Assistant. Jisu was an undergraduate from Johns Hopkins University who obtained a B.S. in Molecular & Cellular Biology in 2018. Jisu worked in the lab for 3 years, and plans to attend medical school in the near future.

Julia Ju - Graduate Student. Julia was a graduate student who continued her time in the lab from her undergraduate experience at Hopkins and earned her Master's degree in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering in 2017. During her time in the lab, she conducted research on the hypoxia-induced protein RhoB. She is currently a Research Associate at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Daniel Shade - Undergraduate Research Assistant. Danny was an undergraduate at Johns Hopkins University who obtained a B.S. in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering in 2017. He is currently a PhD Student in Chemical Engineering at Georgia Tech in the lab of Dr. Krista Walton where he studies gas adsorption on metal-organic frameworks.

Joao Bras - Visiting Research Scholar. Joao was a Master's student from Tecnico Lisboa - Lisbon University, where he also concluded his B.S.BioChem degree. During his stay, he conducted research for his Master's thesis. His work focused on the genetic hypoxic signature in breast cancer.
